Meet Andrew Kelly

What are you responsible for at AirWalk?

As a Consultant within the PMO discipline, the expectation is that I’ll work on client assignments in roles related to PMO, Business Analysis, Change Management and other project disciplines.  While on the bench and between assignments, I assist with tasks to strengthen Airwalk’s internal operations as well as industry presence, e.g. process documentation and marketing activities.

What attracted you to AirWalk?

Having encountered dozens of consultancies involved in business and technology transformation programmes over the past few years, AirWalk stands out to me as a professional, high quality provider whose people are highly skilled yet friendly and approachable.  When I worked alongside a team of AirWalk consultants in a previous client role, they struck me as hard-working individuals who routinely took on and overcame complex challenges for the benefit of the client.  I also appreciated how the team didn’t feel ‘exclusive’, instead recognising the importance of effective collaboration with non-AirWalk colleagues.  Additionally, I like that the company is relatively new and actively expanding, which makes for an exciting ‘start-up’ workplace culture and generates varied opportunities for its employees.

What makes a great consultant?

Someone who ensures they fully understand the current issues and desired outcomes of their clients, and is motivated to solve problems and deliver valuable change by applying their expertise via proven methodologies.  Consultants must be good at listening, communicating, and collaborating in a professional environment, and should be analytical, flexible, and honest in their approach.

What was your background before you joined us?

I’ve worked as a consultant for the past three years on three different global technology-related programmes within HSBC.  This comprised a PMO role coordinating workstreams in an IT transformation programme, data analysis and stakeholder management in a headcount optimisation programme, and management of the onboarding process for the bank’s AWS platform to enable project teams develop applications in the Cloud.

What is your ambition for your time at AirWalk?

I want to build experience in a range of project roles and engagement types, working as part of dynamic teams in challenging organisational contexts.  At the end of every assignment I want to have made a tangible contribution to the solution delivered to the client.  As I’m currently not specialised in a particular project discipline above others, I’d like to find the role-type(s) that fit me best by attaining varied experience and undergoing training and development with the support of AirWalk colleagues.  I also want to work with the company to continually strengthen its operations, brand, and industry reputation.

What could we find you doing outside of work?

Trying to keep fit by running, playing tennis and tag rugby, experimenting with new recipes, and pretending to be cultured by exploring London’s music/comedy/art/history (but mainly street food) scenes.
