Complex technology transformation

Client

The Bank of England is the UK’s central bank, an institution at the heart of not just monetary policy, but also the fundamental payments systems and platforms for the UK banking market.

Challenge

Driven by a need to upgrade its existing IT estate, the Bank began a programme to refresh and innovate across a host of end-user technology.

However, with a landscape of over 2,000 applications, significant and diverse requirements, and over 3,500 in-scope devices, the scale and level of complexity quickly began to derail the organisation’s early efforts.

Solution

Airwalk Reply was engaged to take over the programme, undertaking a review and assessment, and implementing a remediation plan to rescope and get the programme back on track.

We redefined objectives and delivered a revised business case, defined the delivery capability and team required, and established a new team and governance framework.

Our team designed and developed processes, toolsets and artefacts to enable the programme to operate effectively and scale rapidly, including OJEU-compliant procurement execution.

Outcome

We completed remediation, testing and release of 1,500 applications, as well as remediation of all end-user computing-developed applications, successfully refreshing the entire IT estate for the bank on time and in budget.
